The company was originally established to assist a W.A. Mining & Civil Contractor fulfil a civil works package for a rail project. In March 2007, severe weather conditions resulted in severe damage to pre-existing accommodation facilities within the project corridor. Ascention was nominated as Lead Contractor to reconstruct the village facilities.

Ascention, together with the project design team, sub-contractors and suppliers formulated a programme whereby Ascention could expedite the return of the Client’s workforce.

Ascention’s S.O.W. included the removal from site, and total replacement of one accommodation village; systematic disconnection of services, removal of single floor buildings in groups of 4, installation of Region D T.C.2 anchors, replace buildings and reconnecting services to be ready for occupancy at the end of each day shift; and the installation of four additional construction camps at critical workface locations.

In addition Fly Camps were installed to house the employees engaged on the project. Between April 2007 and August 2007, 6 camps comprising a total of 1131 beds were made available to house the Project workforce, this was 520 beds more than the original facilities.
